i’ve always liked actresses who pulled off the classic look. anne hathaway looked gorgeous for the cover shoot for vogue. photographed by mario testino, dressed in amazing outfits and shot at awesome locations. *sigh* so preeettyyyyyy….she really does the audrey hepburn really well. read the article here.

happy birthday leanne!! apart from that crazy saturday night you had, i hope you’re enjoying your delicious lobster today.
the theme was to wear checks or polka dots (can you tell???) and since D doesn’t have either one, we went hunting for one and found a really nice shirt. semangats? it’s really the only time to convince him to shop for clothes. men…..
we headed to a place called monkey magic. we did hear decent reviews about it but i think coz we were such a big group, it didn’t seem to turn out that great. and for $45? we were still hungry at the end of the night. i have to say kudos to anne for the awesome cake (the alexis type tiramisu cake which i miss). when they brought out the cake, we sung ever so loudly, the poor birthday girl was red in the face. hahaha but we obviously had to announce it to the world right??
after dinner? we had to get the birthday girl drunk so we were off to mr.b’s where she pretty much never left the bar. in fact, i hardly saw her… 😀 very interesting pics on FB that night… heheheh

so after my last post, i couldn’t wait to bake my first cake (on my own) and bought all the ingredients i needed to make the simplest butter cake recipe i could find. it wasn’t so hard but i did make a mess >.< i also misread the recipe and mixed it wrongly but manage to still mix it all together in the end. hehehe
just imagine turning on the mixer when the flour is all loose… *poof* hahaha i had to mix it in the sink coz it was getting everywhere!! eventually everything was nice and fluffy and i poured it into the baking can and put it in the oven. all done, so proud.. 😀 the receipe said an hour… but checking after 50 mins it was almost burnt so i took it out and let it cool.
i have to say for my first try not bad lah… people say that baking isn’t so hard and i guess they are right. the cake did turn out ok, it was moist inside but D said not sweet enough. well, it’s still edible and if you’re not too much of a sweet tooth then it’s a-ok.
i took the recipe off taste. click if you wanna have a look at the recipe…. hmmmm what shall i attempt to bake next??

junior masterchef is showing channel 10 right now and man… can those kids cook. while we were waiting for our pies and creamy potato bake in the oven, our mouths were water just watching the dishes they were making. booo… my dinner didn’t look as great as theirs -_- look at that, it was the first attempt for some of them too. i don’t even know where to start if i was given duck. FAIL
later that night, i caught part of the movie julie & julia yesterday and learnt some new stuff about cooking. the movie was just a tad slow but i loved the quirky Julia Child. the one thing that got me and D going “ohhhhhhhh” was that we are meant to dry out meat before cooking or it won’t brown right. you learn something new everyday!
after watching these programs, i too wanna cook >.< i am going to attempt baking for the very first time. and since D likes butter cakes… that’s what i’m gonna start with and also… that one doesn’t look toooooo difficult. *fingers crossed* if it doesn’t turn out, you won’t get a picture. hahahaha

as mentioned ages ago, giz has a lil bit of separation anxiety so he tries to be as close to us as whenever possible. as i was falling asleep the other night, giz couldn’t help but rest on my pillow too (so may other pillows, it had to be the one i was on) -_- he loves to snuggle in between the pillow& sofa and looks extremely cute with his fluffy face. 😀

i’m always glad it’s the weekend. then again who isn’t >.< the sun was out to play today. this is another summer dress from the company with a crochet back. i'm actually starting to like this crochet thing. 🙂
spinning hope necklace from sportsgirl
this necklace is actually pretty cool. from one side, you can’t tell what it says until you spin it right. the butterfly foundation is the foundation sportsgirl supports for australians with eating disorders. do you small bit by buying something 🙂
now here’s a random fact about me… i like seeing the brightness of having the sun out but i prefer gloomy days. i prefer the smell of damn air, a slight chill (but not COLD) and not having to squint without sunnies on. don’t get me wrong, i love being out in the sun but sadly my skin does not allow me too. 😦 i’m kinda allergic to the sun so when i’m in the sun for too long (and when i say too long, i really mean half an hour or so) i break out in rashes.
it’s quite odd coz i was a beach/water baby and my family use to head to the beaches ever so often. i learnt how to snorkel and then dive by the time i was fifteen, grew up so tan compared to the rest of my family and then suddenly…… i can’t stay out in the sun too long. i have to remember to pop an antihistamine pill everytime i plan outdoor activities and still worry that i’ll break out in rashes. sucks big time -_-
i’m gonna die for summer…. bring out the antihistamines!!
